lack of ambition
    #4344060 - 06/27/05 06:44 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

This isn't a regular post about how nothing is worth it and society sucks and blah blah.

A few months ago, I was the most motivated and passionate person , ever. At that point, I had found my purpose and devoted all of my time and energy to it.

Since then, I've forgotten my purpose. I feel like we all have our own question to answer to succeed in our lives, and not everyone gives a fuck about purpose. But for me, it is the number one question.

I don't know. When I'm motivated and passionate I can come out with incredible stuff, but I don't seem to care anymore... I don't know. Maybe I'm depressed or something.

I kind of wish I could afford a shrink...

What happened to sap your motivation?

i was thinking and it would probably do a hell of a lot for me, but i dont have any hookups.

randal: I don't really know. One big difference is that now I'm at home. Home for me is one of the most depressing places in existent.. the atmosphere is that of constant fear, depression, anxiety and insecurity. My sister had to stay here for a while, but couldn't put up with it so she left and got married in the blink of an eye.

It sounds to me like you are just going through a natural cycle...if you put effort towards reclaiming your sense of purpose, you should eventually find it again. Nobody can be 100% on key 100% of the time. You're just in a slump right now, that's all. Maybe you need a new hobby?

perhaps. But it's frustrating. I kept up a level of 110% for a few months straight. Hobby? I don't have a hobby... What motivated me was being able to do lots of fine art, but soon ill be going back to school learning commercial art and taking fine art at once, meaning i'd *need* to be 110% just to be doing well ( lots of overloading ).

I don't know man. It's the same with me. Ambition comes and goes.
One day I'll be so fucking motivated I could invent sliced bread and the light bulb and have time for teaching college and winning the nobel prize and making lots of money. A couple days later it'll just be like.. fuck it.

It sounds like you're being a little hard on yourself man...I have no doubt that you'll get back up to where you want to be.

But maybe this 'slump' is actually your body and mind trying to tell you something, like "it's okay to take a break from your own ambition sometimes."

I'm the same way, and shroomism put it perfectly. Give it some time, and it'll come back. Maybe you need to relax a bit and let the motivation come back on its own.

Me too. It comes and goes along with the depression. All I can say is wait it out. Since no one likes that advice if its been a while, a good solo dose of shrooms always brings me back to life.

...Weapons are meant for destruction,
and thus are avoided by the wise.
Only as a last resort
will a wise person use a deadly weapon.
If peace is her true objective
how can she rejoice in the victory of war?
Those who rejoice in victory
delight in the slaughter of humanity.
Those who resort to violence
will never bring peace to the world...
