hey all i am having a bit of trouble making sawdust spawn.. i get it to the proper moisture (where just a few drops barely come out of it as i squeeze) but after i PC there is standing water in the bags.. usually the top 2 bags, i fit 8 5lb bags in a 41quart PC, are fine but the rest have extra water.. i think the water is getting added during the PC, seems obvious, what am i doing wrong?
anyone got experience with this? thanks
oh and they colonize fine, no contamination issues, just the bottom part where all the water is doesnt colonize at all...
it is probably as simple as you guessed, if there's more water in the bags after cooking, it's entering during the pc phase. you need to raise the bags off the pc floor with something like empty jars, or use less water if you're confident it won't go dry during cooking. you'll probably have to cook less in one go or get a bigger pc.
good luck dude. at least you have an easily fixed problem
