your poppies are PROBABLY too late to flower this year.
i find anything planted after the first day of summer grows cabbage into the fall unless its crowded.

one time i grew a single plant into a massive cabbage by itself, 3 ft accross, 2 ft tall, tiller branches evrywhere, no stretching or buds. it was planted in august. in early november i decided to carefully dig up the area and bring it in.

it promptly died. ill never know if it would have survived under the snow.
