Sterile lab in a hotel room?

OK here's a crazy idea. I was thinking about using hotel rooms for tempoarary sterile labs. I would setup a Hepa Filter either in the main room or bathroom and possibly have an adjacent room were I can shower, clean, etc. The idea here being that a newly cleaned hotel room "might" have less contaminants than other places and I don't have the means to construct a proper lab at the moment. Is this feasible or am I out of my mind?

hotel rooms are breeding grounds for trillions of bacteria. your house would be much cleaner. hotels are businesses, they cuts cost to make greater profit. the sheets are rarely cleaned and maids shirk duties.

I would take all that cash your ready to drop on hotel rooms and build a possitive pressure glove box. or you could take the money and buy more alcohol and lysol. it's prolly cheaper. Plus, do you have any idea how many people have done the nasty on practically every surface in the room. i know i've gotten down in a hotel a time or two, and house keeping prolly didn't lysol. not just that but the volume of people even passing through with all differant spores they don't even know they have on them, from wherever they are travleing from. best bet is to clean you own bathroom, buy a hepa filter, or a glove box.

My girlfriend just told me that if I ever decide to work on my project naked in a hotel room, she's going to make me stop or leave.

all of them would be naked of course so that they can't steal any!
dont forget body gaurds and automatic rifles to protect your turf.

Wow that's a bit extreme. Is your house really that dirty? Most hotels are not very clean. I read an article on how filthy they were and the types of bugs and other crap that are in the rooms. Made me not want to stay at hotels any more. I can see where it would be an improvement for X24 who was in a cabin with dirt floors.

From the looks of that photo, you were asking for contams weren't you?
The idea is to keep any spores, skin cells, etc from making contact with your work.
You want your entire body covered as much as possible while maintaining sterility.
I still don't understand peoples thinking behind working in the nude, or in underwear.
This is a BAD thing.
In a hotel room to top it off.

I just hope you ain't too close to any of my Fam...
EDIT: oops misread the thread and didn't realize the pic was an old one of someone else. However you should be careful about showing IDing marks etc...

Whenever I check into a motel room, everything gets Lysoled. The bedspread, pillows, sheets, phone, t.v. remote, shower, (in it's entirety), toilet, tabletops and chairs. If I have enough left over, I empty it on the floor. I then head to the nearest restaurant, eat dinner and maybe a few aperitifs, and return to the room. Oh, don't forget the AC unit!
Hit a motel bedspread with a UV light just once, and it'll be all you can do just to BE in a hotel room.
My wife used to think I was crazy, now she buys the Lysol!

Traveling with a schedual II drug lab even if it is only from a hotel to your place is probably not the greatest of ideas. Do your work in a bag in your closet if you have to. You don't have to overkill the problem.

No it doesn't. Freshly laundered clothing is what you should wear for sterile work. If working naked was better, surgeons would be naked in the operating room.

i don't have a washer/dryer.
the original statement was directed at a picture of a naked kid in a hotel room.
i guess maybe they should have stopped to wash their road rags at the local laundromat before they checked in.

I thought surgeons use brand new scrubs every time they go to surgery. For some reason I also think they came in a sterile plastic bag. Don't know for sure just thought that.

Surgical scrubs are rarely owned by the wearer; due to concerns about home laundering and sterility issues, these scrubs are hospital-owned or hospital-leased through a commercial linen service who does the laundering.
