Aerial maps
    #4340744 - 06/27/05 12:16 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Has anyone found fields using aerial maps? I'm looking at B&W ones but I'm not sure what I should be looking for like what the aerial view of a cow field should look like compared to tree farm field or whatever. I'm just trying to find larger fields not small private ones. :mushroom2:

Ive tried them before. The problem is you can only see so much, and you dont know how old the maps are, so they might be outdated and giving flase info. Id look for the ones where you can put in cities or intersections and it pin points them. Its actually pretty sweet technology, to be able to look at the entire earth in detail at the ease of your fingers. Ive never based a hunt location off of the images though. Has anyone, and had sucess?

believe it or not i found my "goldmine" from an aerial map that was hanging inside on the wall of a business, they took a photograph of their property and building(nice picture by the way) and i just so happened to notice a cow field in the upper left corner and i knew the exact roads to get there from looking at it. but no ive never sought out any pictures, that was a pure fluke accident, good one for me. which i might add i went out to check the field for the first time this year and the sons of bitches put a new gate up even further away from the actual field gate... so now i have to walk like an extra mile. but its worth the walk. so instead i went driving and stumbled upon a new field thats so easy and safe to access its unbelievable.

I use them to find alternate routes / parking locations for fields that I already know about. As for finding new spots, there is no way to tell if what you're looking at is a cow field or an empty pasture unless you drive by ... but it is def. good to find potential spots, just don't be upset if you go on some wild goose chases. You can normally tell agricultural land by seeing irrigation and/or crop lines.

I use terra-server

I think it's pretty difficult to find fields according to these maps, but, once you've found them, it makes it easier to map the area.

Keyhole works alot better than terrafly
