Hey, I was wondering if you can put different substrates other than brf in half pint jars, and if so could you guys tell me which works best and what your measuring/water to substrate to vermiculite ratios were. thanks!

Actually, I think what shroominator wants to know is: Are half pint jars suitable for growing applications? Also, instead of solid cakes, if he were able to shake the substrate, that would help the colonization process significantly. Please post up the most successful shake substrate recipe that you know of. Thanks.

millet flour is by far the best. Dark rye flour works well too.

2:1:1 for any kind of flour... verm:flour:water
