I got 40lb. of horse poo from ebay. paid like 5 bucks plus hsipping. The poo has been raked out of the stalls, ran through a shredder and packaged. Do I need to leach this poo, and if so, how?

I got the same stuff. I mix mine in a big bucket with lots of water and some Amquel to help with ammonia. Let it sit for 24hours or so.. stir every now and then. Then I pour it into a pillow case. squeeze out as much as possible and let it dry in the sun. Then I pasteurize it in the pillow case to get out even more..
I squeeze it nearly dry. I don't like it to drip at all. You can always add water to it... but I had a few tubs with water pooling on the bottom when I didnt use a trash bag and they were a big hassle to fix. They are still recovering now...

Cool. that is what i'll do. I have 58qt tubs I am gonna use for my double tubs. I filled them up with poo 4 inches and put it in a bag, I fifgured that is how much I will have to pasturize per tub. When I tried to weigh it, it overloaded my 5lb. scale. If I want to leach it at home, dry it on a tarp, then pasturize now, while my substrate bags are coloniseing, how should I store my pasturised redy to use poo?

Keep in mind that when you leech it... you tend to lose stuff in the run-off. So you will end up with less. I have not stored it before. I wait until it is cool... wring all the water out and spawn it. Not so how long it will keep. See if someone else knows. I would probably store it in ziplocks.. but ask ...

I store it in a open trash container in my yard.. I just leach what I'm going to use before I use it..
If it rains, I set it on a tarp on my back porch in the sun to dry it back out..

You can store the DRY stuff forver. Once pasturized, it is best to use it within 24 hours, IMHO.

40# Organic Fertilizer-Dried Horse Manure-Chemical Free
The dude selling it says it is shredded & has LESS than 1% water.
That is dry.
Looks dry to me. If that is the case, all it needs is hydrated & pasturized.

I got some of the same poo from the same person a while back and I just rinsed it for a while in a colander, then put it in my pillow case and pasturized. It is working well. One thing that I should have done is pick out all of the sticks and other crap that was mixed in so that I would have a more level surface to put my casing on. Oh yeah, keep the poo water from the pasturization. Use it in your substrate mixes instead of your usual water. It's good shit, literally.

I'm considering purchasing a 40lb bag myself. I mean if it's dry does that mean that it still has ammonia in it? I assume some would be left dried into the manure. Any suggestions on whether to leech the dried poo from eBay or not?

Fooman, I like the idea of using the pasturized poo water in substrates, it would definitely make a difference. Think that's exactly what I'll be doing soon.

If it is fresh, then dried quickly by heat (stored in a hot barn - for instance). Verses weathered & sun dried - through repeated cycles of rainfall - then sunshine (UV exposure kills nasties). It will contaim ammonia that you can hardly smell. But, once hydrated - you will smell ammonia. If you can smell ammonia, that is enough to be toxic - to myclia. So, yes - imho - it should be leached.

After asking the person I got the poo from, they said it was gathered from the field and not the stalls and that it would hjave been weathered enough.
