Do these grains look too dry? (pics)

This is post-PCing, pre-innoc'ing.

A little history on my grains experiences: They've all failed. All of them have contaminated and most all of them showed no growth of myc.

They soaked for a good 18-24 hours, then were simmered.

Yeah there is room to shake them. About two inches. The tyvek is covering that up though.

And I scooped out most of the sunflower seeds but there are a few in there.

GatorB, contamination isn't caused by being too dry. Slow, whispy colonization is. If you are getting contaminated, there is something wrong alright, but it's not how dry the grains are. Look for other reasons you are getting contamination.

dry = rhizos. Remember, mycelium will suck alot of moisture out of the casing. So your jars will be fine

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

To answer your question, yes, the Coffee filters are over the lids. Tyvek is immediately over the mouth of the jar, followed by the lid with polyfill, and then the two coffee filters.

And this time, I basically doused my kitchen/oven/working area in antibacterial disinfectant and wiped everything down with alcohol. We'll see what happens.
