New Order
    #4328851 - 06/23/05 02:20 PM (18 years, 9 months ago)

One of my favourite bands. Every song is brilliant imo.
Blue Monday is a classic! Anyone else into them?

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?
Remember how she said that
We would meet again
Some sunny day?
Vera! Vera!
What has become of you?
Does anybody else in here
Feel the way I do?

in my opinion, they don't got shit on Joy Division. after ian curtis killed himself, they lost that special something.

although, granted, New Order is quite sweet.

new order are really good
although they get a little...fey...
at times
and this is coming from someone who considers the smiths one of the greatest bands of all time.

The Smiths are brilliant. Love them lyrics, riffs everything about them great band.
New Orde all brilliant though call for me in picking who i prefer.
Love the two oh so very much. A playlist mixed up of lots ot new order and the smiths is great to listen too.

earlier new order, the better - thats my rule of thumb.
in fact, I only really like their first album "movement"

sounds more joy division than "new order"
maybe that's why I like it the best.

They've made some of the greatest pop music ever. I like their old and their new stuff-- but I haven't heard anything from the new album.

Some of their songs are... how shall I say this... gay. However, True Faith is always a classic. :smirk:

There's a special place in my heart for 80s synth-pop.
"Bizarre Love Triangle" is my favorite song by them.

Yea movement is a great CD, thier best. JD will always be the favorite though. 24 hour party people was a good movie, but thier making a new movie on ians life and death based on the book his wife wrote, it's being produced by her and tony wilson and my friend said jude law will be playing ian (i haven't looked into it yet though so don't take my word for that.)

I used to really like New Order, but now I'm indifferent about them - everything from Technique onwards has been somewhat dodgy, Republic is probably the best album for ages.

Can't believe that they re-re-released Blue Monday - the '88 version was bearable, but the one after that was horrible...

Agree that Movement is their best album. The first Electronic album is pretty good (has Johnny Marr from the Smiths on it) but the one's after that were pretty bad in my opinion.

Speaking of the Smiths, found some pretty horrible covers of How Soon Is Now (Simple Minds, and Tatu would you believe - avoid at all costs).

Simple Minds is another band that's completely lost it after the 80's ended.

At least Depeche Mode are still going strong...

depeche mode is gone from what ive heard, or is it inxs, anyhow i heard that the singer killed himself as well. i saw a new order video the other day, was catchy. the 80's were so cool, so many beautiful songs so perfect to fall in love with. my personal favorites happened to be human leaugue i had the hots for colleen the short black haired girl.

I live not far from Manchester and see some of the guys around town. Peter Hook is always out, see Barney in the supermarket! Appear to be OK guys.
