UK casings
    #4332514 - 06/24/05 03:07 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

Hello and peace to all cultivators on the forum. As I am based in England I have found many basic ingredients for mushroom growth in all the usual chain stores, but for the more advanced teks ingredients such as peat moss and coco-coir are extremely difficult to find. Does anyone know roughly what kind of store or if any chains do any casing ingredients such as lime, peat moss, crushed oyster shells or coir? I have checked all the FAQs and searched forum archives to no avail. I'd be grateful if anyone could help.
Thanks

You should get peat moss in any garden centre. Since it is summer I see it in supermarkets. I have never seen coco-coir or oyster shells, but I have not really looked for them. Lime is in garden centres too, you can also use crushed egg-shells in a pinch

> lime, peat moss, crushed oyster shells (also called powdered limestone)

These can all be found at Home Depot type stores, hardware stores, garden places. Peat moss is the basis in soilless gardens. Hydrated lime and crushed limestone are used to addjust pH and can be found in the same places.

Coco coir can be found in places like Pet Co, pet stores ect. Its a brick of reptile bedding that you soak in water, then it expands. You can also find bricks (and big bricks called bales) at hydroponic stores if they're around.

All that can be found online too, if you search..not sure where to send you for good shipping to the UK though. Also, check out www.magicmushroomforum.co.uk good people over there, small board but they may know exactly where you should go.
