reaching mycelium

Anyone ever see mycelium reach outwards off the cakes? My story is.... I have 5 cakes that were birthed a week ago today, I'm not too worried about no pins happening so far since it could be a little while, the thing is, my cakes have gone from a flat somewhat pasty looking texture after their 19 hour dunk to a fluffy spiky texture. It's like the mycelium is reaching out. I'm pretty sure it's not pinning due to the pictures I have been seeing ( first timer ) and the way the mycelium is growing outwards in very thin strands. I have come up with two possible causes, 1. The cakes were left sitting in the jars for about a month after full colonization or 2. The cakes were incubated at room temperature thus giving no real temperature drop to initiate pinning. I haven't got a clue and I've been typing for a while now. Any ideas what is going on with me cakes??? any help is good and appreciated peace

Is it real thin strands sticking out, or is it like bumps?

Does it look anything like this?
If so, It's just mycelium. Check out this thread that Roadkill mentions it.

Your mycellium is just showing rhizmorphic growth due to high humidity. This is perfectly fine, just make sure your temperatures are in mid 70's for pinning.

It looks very much like what clutch has got going, it's strange, something I wasn't expecting to see. I just noticed the protruding strands are starting to clump together more like in clutch's picture. I'm glad to hear my cakes aren't all whacked out. Thanks for the help guys! keep it real.
