Shrooming at a Zoo?
    #4330653 - 06/24/05 12:34 AM (11 years, 5 months ago)

I was planning to trip with two of my friends this saturday at a zoo. I'm pretty sure the zoo is mostly inside (Minnesota Zoo?)and some outside. Me and one of my friends are experienced but the other has never eaten them. We also have one sitter. Good idea or not?

I dunno. I think it'd freak out and depress me.

Not sure if you would have a good time, walking around seeing captive animals. Your call though, just keep the dose low. I don't know about a first trip in that setting.

Got a question about a substance?  Erowid might already have your answer! Have questions about the  mushroom experience? The  Tripper's FAQ may have your answer or someone else might have had your question before.

I would not recommend it.  There is no way I would have been able to trip for the first time in a public place like the zoo. However if you are going to do it, follow the post above and dont forget your sunglasses  :crazy2:

I tripped with a few friends at our local Zoo, a very nice sunny day and we had a BLAST. Especially because they built a HUGE wooden play castle type thing thats probably the biggest play thing ive ever seen. We spent HOURS swinging around the nets and ropes and slides watchin the animals in their enclosures.

but we were all pretty experienced (4-7 trips at least each) and it was an 8th for each of us, i wouldnt say a first timer should go to the zoo, lol.

I strolled through Central Park Zoo on a low dose of acid recently and had to say it was pretty depressing...even on that low dose and not really having a visually hallucinatory trip, the animals didn't look particularly happy..

--------------------
Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

minnesota eh? there is a lot of indoor stuff there, and it might not be the best zoo to trip out at. The bigger, more impressive zoos (San Diego) are way more fun

It would depress me so much to trip in a zoo... It is bad enough sober.

(the stranger in our strange land) went to the zoos many a time, while exploring his new freedom on earth...
and had an experience observing the capuchin monkeys which allowed him to finally laugh...
go look it up  ...

~

you may or may not enjoy it... but do have an alternate (escape  ) plan availble, just in case...
and do keep the dosage level low, y'know...

I'm not sure if monkeys would scare me or make me laugh hysterically.

The zoo ? Are you people out of your mind ?

You're going to a place that rides on the fact that people have to pay and visit caged animals so that they can 'experience' nature?

Do yourself a favor; and watch animals that aren't caged. They will be free, and they will definately be different. (there are different kinds of zoo's, but please people; think of the concept.)

Nature is meant to be free; not to be caged for profits...

I was there last year while high on mushrooms, not tripping, but high. Might be strange for first timer, but a 1.5-2 gram dose might be fun. Was going to the Renosance, but it was Friday and they were closed, so just went to the zoo...

Trip and stare at the primates, and realize that very little separates us from them.  The chimps will BLOW you AWAY, they have long-lasting, coherent dramas.

I went to the San Diego Zoo and ate a pot cookie on the way there.... watching the chimps, we saw the following:

There was a family of a father, mother, and male juvenile (son).  The father had some food he was enjoying by himself, and the son kept coming up to him and pestering him, trying to snatch at the food.  The dad would just turn around irritated and shove him off a bit.

But the kid kept coming back and irritating the dad.  Finally he got so frustrated that he dropped the food and started chasing the son around!  They started wrestling and fighting, spinning and climbing and tackling, it was just INCREDIBLE to watch, these things are incredible martial artists by default!

The dad connected on a really good blow, and the boy ran off to find the mother, who meanwhile was working on their hut, collecting fibers and adding them to their enclosure.  The mother gave the father a bad look and took the boy in her arms, then stood up and bounded away to a far corner of the cage.

The father looked defeated and rather depressed, and slowly walked over to see if he could get back in the good graces of his mate and child.  No dice, the mother just turned her back on him.

GO TO THE ZOO ON SHROOMS

I would say it sounds like a good time, I was actully planning on doing this my self this summer, looking at elephants and giraffes while trippin has got to be a good time. If you do decide to do this KEEP THE DOSE LOW. Going to public places tripping balls can turn out bad but with a nice shroom buzz, it sounds like it would be some bad ass shit. I would recomend it and I know i'm gonna try it my self some time this summer! go for it man
