I have had superpowerfull experiences with both. When I was a kid I got ahold of 11 fresh buttons. I spent the night on the Lake Michigan sand dunes. I never puked but sure wanted to for about an hour. That was one of the best and most "cosmic" trips I can remember from those days. I never looked at the world the same. It lasted about 11 hours also. Wow. Unfortunately I haven't had much opportunity to have more adventures with mescalito.

But when it comes to knockdown power give me Salvia. I don't know how I would survive a 2 hour trip on her much less 6 or eight.

Maybe you have one of those 'iron-clad' stomachs. My friend Kenny could eat and drink practically anything without getting sick. Everytime I took Morning Glories, I would vomit them out, but then soar.

Apparently the Peyote tufts (Huichol "eyebrows of the peyote") are harmless and it is a matter of choice to pick them off or not (there used to be that 'rural legend' about them containing strychnine).

I met a college prof in Miami years ago whose wife (an artist who had paintings of herself preparing the star-shaped San Pedro) used to boil the sliced San Pedro for 6 hours, and the bitter liquid was consumed. It was very strong and after 8 hours it was 'enough already.' Stafford agrees with you in that:

Peyote has a bitter taste and causes many users to feel nauseous...San Pedro has a similar taste, but among those who have tried both cacti it is generally considered easier to swallow and keep down.  p.133

Insofar as P.Cubensis are native to Florida, they seem more natural to a cohabitator (maybe it's Sheldrakian morphogenetic field thing ).

I think one of the reasons I didn't puke on all those buttons is I was afraid I would lose the trip. I fought the desire for about an hour which was quite strong, then it quickly faded. I also have an iron clad stomach. I've rarely vomited in my life. And I've swollowed some nasty concoctions. Mind over matter. If you don't mind it doesn't matter.

Chewing salvia isn't much fun either.

The Mushroom God beat me to a bloody pulp a couple times. Not sure if I want to get back in the ring with him.

Have not had the pleasure of meeting Mescalito.

"Not sure if I want to get back in the ring with him."

You are not supposed to fight the him...but dance instead.
