Alien Substrate Formula and PC ?'s...
    #4328396 - 06/23/05 02:00 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

hey guys...
im thinking about trying the Alien Substrate Formula instead of the brf/verm tek. My question is, the quanitity they say in the tek(i.e 3/4 cups of X) doesn't say how many jars this is suitable for.
the other question is, for my PC. I know in all the teks it says to PC at 15 psi's for an hour or so. But, on my PC it doesn't list the psi's...it just has 4 switches i can turn to. 0,1,2 and a pressure release. So, which one(if anyone knows) what switch would be about the same as 15 Psi's? and my second PC question(sorry about all the questions) is should i put some water on the bottom under the rack?

Ive had similar problems. I don't recommend using this formula though, for it is too easy to overhydrate the jars especially after pressure cooking. The mixture will cover approximately 12 1/2pint jars. Set the setting to 2, any other setting will release too much steam and lower the pressure, hindering your efforts. Of course, about an inch will do nicely. Try WBS i'd say.

dont bother with the alien formula or at least lessen the H20 content i followed the recipe and lost 9 out of 12 jars. A big waste of time.

because of the inclusion of quinoa, which has the highest amount of trytophan, than any other grain, (the chemical which converts to psilocin in fungal growth) it is likely that the potency would indeed increase. Quinoa, however, can indeed be mixed into other substrates, so there is not much reason in only applying it to the alien formula. Right now I am experimenting with a combination of WBS and Quinoa. Thumbs up. Peace out :hippie:

alien formula is not for beginners, so school up before trying
