Further thoughts about honesty vs. privacy led me to recognize how much power secrets can have.

I recently finished reading a book titled "Secrets, Lies and Betrayals" about the way experiences we deny or repress become "lodged" in our bodies. It was a fascinating read! The therapist-author explored the use of Rapid Eye Movement Desensitization therapy in releasing the energy around emotionally-laden secrets.

I wonder whether the use of honesty would be as effective as she believes REMD therapy to be? I have had some amazing experiences during the last year through revealing long-held secrets to my mother and to my ex-husband. I was absolutely terrified, hands shaking, breathing shallowly, when I began the "confessions," and blissfully high for days afterward!!

Has anyone here had a positive experience with confessing secrets?
I feel as though I have reclaimed energy that had been inaccessible to me for many years. Guarding information is exhausting work!

I?ve had.I felt both,the fear of letting go and the bliss of putting an end to the burden.Once you voice your fears and lacks they can?t hold any power on you,and you can work on them to improve yourself.

yes well, the truth is good but can also hurt. Despite the anxiety of getting it out it is self-fulfilling.

I used to be very open w/ my ex we were together for the first months then school and track took over my life. I would go out and fraternize with other girls. I guess I felt guity because of it and ended up hiding this, which turned out to push us further apart. It was unfortunate, time went on, we started talking again, explained what happened on my behalf and now we might get back together.

Ironic that your name is Veritas, being "truth" in latin.
