    #4323971 - 06/22/05 08:11 AM (18 years, 9 months ago)

you could find a rod the size of the hole you want and heat it up on the stove until it glows red and pop that baby on threw there.

^^that sounds like the best idea, but if it came down to it, you could get by with a good knife.

well... i kept on cracking the tubs trying to cut holes in it :'( ruined 2 75 quart'ers :frown: ... so what i ended up doing was cut holes in the lid which was easier, but there's no holes at substrate level... i dunno how it'll do :-\ i put 4 holes in the top.  would you recommend that i fan? or should i just leave it be, and once a day maybe blow a fan through the closet to circulate air for a minute or two?

we'll see how it goes i suppose.. this was sort of a test run, since i didnt exactly have all the money to buy everything up front (damn rent).  i'm going to cook up some more rye soon and do some g2g's and start a whole new batch of tubs.  i'll keep ya updated on how they are doing.  *shruggle*

How large are the holes? A fan thats not pointed at the tub will likely be beneficial. I would run it like 15min on 2hr off or something like that.

OOOO-HO-HO man thats rough. Personally I would just say ta hell with the holes and just do a manual fan once or twice a day. Good luck with the crop.
P.S. show us some pics when you can take some.

You think cutting the holes on the lid will work just as well? It is easier to cut holes like that but I was thinking that holes should be perpendicular to the ground, not parallel on the top. The only reason I say this is because c02 falls, so those hole may take more c02 then 02 opposed to the other type of holes. But with a fan running now and then, probably not an issue.

If you have a Hobby Store nearby, you can ask if they have a hotknife. They are for working on plastic models, cutting styrofoam etc. The look like a cheap soldering iron with a knife blade on the end.
Come to think of it, Radio Shack may even carry them. They are not expensive and will cut through your bin like butter. Just work slowly.

Hope this helps

Power drill ~ $30

1" & 1 1/2" bits ~ $30

The ability to use a drill when you need it.... its about time

*Edit*
I'm pretty sure if you went to lowes or home depot you can use the tools for a small fee, or maybe even free (im not 100% sure though, i know murrays does it with auto tools, and im pretty sure my grandfather has used tools from lowes)

To cut the holes in the side of a plastic container?

I knew tyvek was tha shit, but man...

But anyway, even if he used tyvek somehow, I think he'd still have to cut the holes.

Buy a Dremel rotary tool. It's the handiest gadget you'll ever own.

^^ Those rotart tools are the shiiiiiit. Except the metal bits got killed really quick cutting through sheet metal...

But i bet one of them lil bits could cut throgh about 200000000 plastic tubs.
