In this new age spirituality (with energies, spheres etc. ) sexuality is often celebrated as being something not just corporial but beyond, so things like "sexual energy" are mentioned, sexuality is attributed to spirits (not just bodies) etc.
I wonder, does eating have a spiritual component too? Are tomato stains spiritual? Is there such a thing as "eating energy"? Is there a chakra for stomach growling?

Sure tomato stains are spiritual. In fact nothing is more spiritual, or less.
Sex is a powerfull manifestation of the life force, aka, creative energy. That's why some say sex is spiritual.

Eating is too. If you don't eat you die, the urge to eat is a life force
I think they say it because sex feels good, and that is just a way to incorporate it into the whole spirituality thing.
P. S. actually EVERY time you eat you bring energy into your body which you use to exist and move around, but like I said in the other thread, sex is used as a life force only a couple of times in your life, the rest of the time it is simply pleasure and has nothing to do with life growing and multiplying and stuff like that

Yes, eating is too. But I have to disagree with your P.S.
If you know of Tantra practice you can have non-ejaculatory orgasisms. This can move energy or life force in the body/mind/spirit, and can have a transformational effect on people in many ways, but one concete one would be better physical health. Health is strong life force.

Well you can count every positive sideproduct of sex, but that is not why people do it.
Do people look at each other and say: "hey baby, let's move our internal energy and become healthier"? Or do they simply feel the desire and do it without thinking about how spiritual it is?

Where do you think the idea of blessing food came from before people ate it? The blessing was meant to purify the energy before it was consumed.
Many say prayers of appreciation for the food they are about to eat it in recognition that it's energy sustains the body.
The energy of food consumed is very much recognized by religious, spiritual, new agey types.
Looking around, I think more people put more time and prep into blessing and appreciating the energy of food then they do that of sex.
Who likes dirty and impure food? Many enjoy dirty and impure sex.
I thinks its a misnomer to think more emphasis is put on sexual energy over that of food energy.
People can take up to an hour or more preparing a food meal to be consumed. How much time do people put into preparing the sexual energy to be consumed?

Sexual energy comes from food. You eat to have energy for all the muscule movement during sex.
By the way, what is "dirty and impure" sex? Sex in a mudpit? I think most people clean before having sex, at least in river watter (i assume)

Why do you think food was incorporated into Roman Orgies?
Look at Tantric Sex where couples will spend time preparing themselves energetically first, coming to a place of inner peace and harmony and into love where they then let the power of the love move them as One into united bliss.
Then, there are some who like say angry sex. They have just come from an upset and release that angry energy through sex into the other person. That would be an example of muddied sex. Or those who like to play dominatrix games where one is in power over another and love has nothing to do with it.
This isn't a morality thing, really, it just comes down to preferences and I think more people put more time and thought into the food energy they consume then the sexual energy they consume.
I thought your post was about why you thought people put more into sexual energy then food energy? I don't think that's the generalized case. Whats your evidense or reasoning for more emphasis being put on sexual energy consumption preparation then food consumption preparation?

Yea, you are correct regarding energy. And "sexual energy" is a special use of kinetical energy, it does not bring fresh energy, but it helps in distribution of existing energy (you feel good and active)

you don't "consume" energy in sex. It gets transfered into heat, and usually it is hot so your body rejects the additional heat in the air around the bodies. the energy is transfered into the environment

As people change they may use sex for different reasons. (How would you know?) At least according to some Taoist texts. Weather they think of something as spiritual or not does not change the facts. Some people feel desire IS spiritual, my partner does for sure. I agree with her.

Well I think they have. Once people had 12 wives, and only had sex once in a year, now we use sex to sell Coca Cola, this HAVE changed

Maybe you have never experienced consuming or being consumed sexually. Doesn't mean others don't know what i am talking about.
A lot of people use sex for an energy boost or lift.
Look at how sex is called things like delicious and yummy. Look at how much biting, nibbling and sucking goes on. If people could consume more then just energy out of sexual hunger and cravings they probably would swallow the other whole sometimes.
Ever feel like you want to be wrapped up within someone who is all consuming you?
look at how the Black Widow Spider actually eats her mate after sex.
If you want to reduce the sexual cravings, hungers and consumption of energy down to heat transfers, that's fine.
Many do walk away with an added "pep" in their step. Where did that extra energy come from?
