    #4324752 - 06/22/05 02:43 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

Never really knew how deep the meanings of shrooms go! Ive recently being reading a lot of literature about shrooms such as this http://www.jamesarthur.net/mm_01.html

Its fasinating how deep shrooms go!!
Anyone else enjoy reading up on stuff like this and can anyone tell me about other stuff to look up?

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?
Remember how she said that
We would meet again
Some sunny day?
Vera! Vera!
What has become of you?
Does anybody else in here
Feel the way I do?

That article has large amounts of misinformation gleaned from the theories of Jonothan Ott and Terrence McKenna, but presented as fact. Most of these ideas are unproven speculation.

Which is why most S&Pers love this sort of fantasy.

Not true. I call all things spirit.

I don't know. While it was the the fantasy that got me interested in shamanism, it was the facts that I found infinitely more interesting. When I say facts I mean verifiable facts like cultural traditions and comparative religion. While it has influenced my spiritual thinking, I refuse to let myself fall for faulty reasoning such as this because "it sounds cool". I already know that shamanic tradition was the precursor to ALL religious tradition; it dates back to the Neanderthals who evidenced shamanic thought in their art and burial traditions...so why do I need weak fiction like this. The truth is already cool enough. To be fair to Ott and McKenna...when they presented these ideas it was only presented as hopeful speculation, not fact.

then why do you even discuss anything if everything is a part of your spiritual ways. YOu could just sit back , open a bear and enjoy the perfectly spiritual existence.

Because like you I enjoy debate, I enjoy finding out how others think, I enjoy the friendships, I enjoy ideas. Just because I know that everything is spirit, that doens't mean I don't have preferences.  :mushroom2: I just realize it ain't all about me.

"You could just sit back , open a bear and enjoy the perfectly spiritual existence."

I do enjoy the perfect apiritual existance, but I do like to engage in valid spiritual discussion. Is that a brown or grizzly "bear" I should open...or maybe polar...

so then how do you justify these preferences in your spirituality?

Actually you should try some Czech beer. I once tried some (12% alcohol). Even 3 bottles would get me in the mood, then I'd take some Vodka and... enough about that
