what would cause such inconsistancy in pinning times?

I am trying to figure out why my first fruiting took only 4 days to pin while my second attempt took 9 days??

details: i had 3 colonized BRF cakes.. i fruited 2 and did a G2G (to WBS) with the 3rd. The 2 cakes pinned in 4 days, then when it came time to dunk and roll them again, i put 3 WBS "cakes" in with them (from the prior G2G). BOTH the BRF cakes (2nd flush) and the WBS cakes (1st flush) took exactly 9 days to show pins. WHY?

both fruitings have the exact same temp/light/humidity conditions as before (my TiT hasnt changed). all my WBS cakes looked really healthy and were doing a shitload of knotting the whole time.
