Poll results on Marijuana Legislation & Use
    #4324440 - 06/22/05 01:05 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

Just thought I'd add some fuel to the fire in this forum...

Do you smoke pot?

YES: 30%
NO: 70%

I enjoy it. It keeps me from drinking. Andrew, 28

No. Been there, done that - time to grow up. Chris, 35

Pot is just as bad as ciggarettes, if not worse. Who needs that? T.J. 18

An occasional high is good for the soul. James, 35

Do you think pot is harmful as other illegal drugs?

YES: 22%
NO: 78%

Do you think pot should be legalized?

YES:58%
NO:42%

Yes. Let's tax it and use that money to fix the health-care system. Jesse, 40

No. We don't need America to be any dumber than it already is. Clarence, 24

Why not? Everyone should be able to legally screw themselves up if they want to. Russ, 35

Yes. Cigarettes and alcohol are legal, and they kill. Pot doesn't. It's as simple as that. Shawn, 20

Pot is harder to detect. We don't need stoned doctors, engineers, and pilots out there. Chris, 25

Making criminals out of average guys who do something that's no worse than drinking alcohol? Come on. Dion, 29

If pot were legal, would you smoke it if you don't currently?

YES: 37%
NO: 63%

Do you think pot is addictive?

YES: 57%
NO:43%

Has pot use [your own or someone else's] ever cost you something dear?

My friend smokes pot every day, and he also sleeps 12 to 15 hours a day. He lost his job and his fianc?e, and can't even hold a part-time job. And yet people say pot is harmless. James, 39

I had my car searched after being pulled over for going 6 mph over the limit. A hefty fine to come, I'm sure. Karl, 24

Of my friends who smoked pot in high school, one is dead of a heroin overdose, and another just isn't very good at life. Jais, 25

I lost a job after failing a drug test. Am I the only person on Earth who sees the absurdity of judging people based on their bodily by-products, rather than their performance? Cliff, 50

I guess my girlfriend got tired of watching me wake up at noon every day and reach for the bong and Pink Floyd CDs... She's sleeping with one of my sober friends now. Tom, 27

Allow me to take that apart:

Do you smoke pot?
YES: 30%
If pot were legal, would you smoke it if you don't currently?
YES: 37%
.
30 + 37 = 67% either smokes or wants to smoke pot.

Every figure in the poll that is soft on reefer is smaller than that 67% , so all that pro-marijuana talk is by people who either smoke it or want to smoke it.

67% pro marijuana

I did my own research. In my local bar I poked twenty people with my poolcue and asked if they smoked pot and even with insisting none said they did. So in my town its not even five percent!
The study is biased.

Its like they say one i five people is Chinese? Well I grew up with seven brothers and five sisters and none of em were Chinese.
Statistics? Lies I tell you!

Note: This is not my opinion, I'm delivering a counterpoint taking on the role of an anti-drug crusader. Anti people would be uncomfortable on our site so I'll offer the voice of opposition. Again: this is not my opinion.

I dont get that either. I can understand the logic, but you would have to be a hardcore stoner to smoke as much pot in one day as chain smokers do ciggs.

I've never smoked marijuana, but doesn't it make you philosophical? What a damn moron. The second one shows just how powerful lies, manipulation, and propaganda are.
