PH level of casing..

Alright, newbie casing problem here. I bought some peat, verm and small lime pellets (93% CaCo3). I put the ingredients in the bowl and sprinkled about 9%-12% of the lime pellets on there (9-12% of the casing mixture). They weren't ground up but they seemed to melt upon contact with the water. It was done on Monday, now it is Wed. No growth. Should I give it a few days? Was the lime sufficient to bring down the PH? If the casing isn't a perfect 7 will it matter that much? What are your experiences?

i thought the optimal ph level for a casing is 5.5... could be wrong though? Any big dogs out there want to correct me about that one?

7.5 to 8. 7 will work.

What I am about to state doesn't help - either.
Yes - give it a few days (what else can you do).
You cannot know if you adjusted the peat PH properly, without using a ph probe meter, ph test strips.
It helps if the casing is between 7 & 8. But, myc usualy manages to get through it - unless the ph is way far out of wack.
My experiance is to test it & make sure it is right - before application.
