PC and Bag problems

Everytime my friend tries to pressure cook some autoclavable bagsw/filter patch they end up covering the hole on his pressure cooker(the part with the metal piece you put on top to control pressure). When this happens he has to turn it off and start over. I was thinking he may have been puting too much water in the pressure cooker. Im not quite sure how to remedy this any input would be more then appreciated.

My friend found that crossing some knives on top of the bag was enough weight to hold it down.

He also found those autoclaveable bags aren't that useful.

I was thinkin about buying bags but i thought that the bags wold melt from touching the sides of the PC. I have tried baking bags in oven and they all melted together and made a big mess.
dont you just keep the temps down or somthing?

Autoclavable bags w/ a filter patch are made to withstand the heat of a pc, and won't melt touching the sides. You do want to have a little rack in the bottem (comes with most pc's) to prevent the bottem from getting soft. A good way use them, is to fill them 2/3 full. then fold over the top of the bag and clip with a wooden clothespin (they stand up over time in the pc) This keeps the bag for goin up in the top of the cooker. FP bags are a necessity for serious cultivators. With only a few qt. jars of spawn you can innoc many bags with ease.

I have a small colonder that I put in so that can not happen
The colonder or strainer is like the screen ones with a metal band no handle it works great
