Hello...My cat is having his first experiences with the great infidel Trichoderm. It has taken over small sections of his top casing layer...he has cut it out twice now and it seems to come back..Any helpful hints on what to do would be appreciated. Also How can you tell cobweb mold from mycylium growth on the top of your casing and do either of these things produce toxins which could be harmful to someone who commits felonious fungiphagy? thanx MrB

from what i understand once you have contams showing throuh the top layer then the mycleium will start to lose. Sorry. your best chance is to cut out and area twice as big around the contam. but i sugest you first soak the contam with straight H2O2. to prevent those green spores from fly off and contaminating more . after it is cut out spary hole with more H2O2 and fill with casing coco/verm , best if verm has a little H2O2 also. hope this helps.

Trich loves moisture and H2O2. Let the bed go dry. Very dry if necessary to get rid of the trich and then slowly rehydrate.

A variety of green molds will attack a wet casing. Generally, if you see frosty white-green or dark green on the casing, you can bet the contamination has run through the substrate. Time to pitch the batch and start over. You have to sterilize the chamber, trays, the whole 9. Next time, keep the casing drier. Also, before you break the seal on the chamber for fanning or whatever, consider misting the air above and surrounding with water from a hand sprayer. Wait a moment for all water particles to settle, then methodically open the chamber. Hopefully, the water pulled some contams to the floor. Also, keep your grow chamber as high off the floor as possible. At least 2 feet. Good luck!

Trich does NOT love H2O2. Peroxide makes most living things very very unhappy. It's a pretty vicious molecule. If you let it dry out then every single spore on top of the casing will be wafted up into the air with every little current that passes by, it's probably better to keep it somewhat moist to keep that from happening.
