Incriminating picture
    #4318472 - 06/20/05 07:59 PM (18 years, 9 months ago)

Is putting up pictures on the internet of yourself with illegal plants enough to get you arrested?

It depends on where you live, and who looks at the picture.

If you had a pic of yourself in front of plants, and you said you grew them in your yard, your name is Greg Smith, and you live in Grand Rapids, you would still be safe...

... until some LEOs or the DEA saw them, or until someone complained to the LEOs and/or DEA.

Then, they COULD use this as evidence against you.

Just posting a pic of your face, and your grow? You'll probably be safe... unless someone recognized you on the street.

It isn't smart, but you'd likely, be safe.

It is best to have a friend of a friend do your growing for you.

In the US, (as I understand it, Im no lawyer) the courts do not accept a photograph by itself as evidence unless the person that took the picture can testify as to what they took a picture of. Imagine somebody that fakes a murder scene and takes pictures... you see the problem the courts have trusting pictures alone.

The problem, I imagine, would not be whether or not the picture in and of itself resulted in you being arrested, but rather the picture prompting sufficient suspicion to allow a warrant to be given for a search of your house, and the contents of the photograph being discovered in your possession.

A picture of you can be used as evidence against you in almost any case. Will a picture alone be enough to convict it's hard to say. It really comes down to the quality of lawyer you can buy.

If your poor and have to get a public pretender, then the state can use whatever evidence they pull out of their ass against you and there is VERY little you can do about it.

Why not just blur your face out?

Or even better, why do you have to be in the picture anyway?

Could be safe but not worth the risk.

Also be careful not to have any indentifying symbols in the shot (license plate#, or whatever else)

I don't think the picture would be considered great evidence, however a search warrant could most definately be justified from such a picture which will of course lead to your demise.

I remember of a story (from a local newspaper) where someone was developing pictures (walmart or something) and happened to see illegal weapons in the picture while it was going through the machine. She contacted the police and they got a search warrant for his house. To no one's suprise he got caught for a variety of illegal activites. People are just plain silly.

--------------------
...Weapons are meant for destruction,
and thus are avoided by the wise.
Only as a last resort
will a wise person use a deadly weapon.
If peace is her true objective
how can she rejoice in the victory of war?
Those who rejoice in victory
delight in the slaughter of humanity.
Those who resort to violence
will never bring peace to the world...
