I just saw this movie last night and i thought it had a lot of political references relevant today. It slammed the government for being corrupt and ignoring poverty. The part in the movie where they are releasing chemicals into the water supply reminded me of the chemtrail conspiracy. There was also a weaponized hallucinogen in the movie, actually it was the main weapon.

that doesn't sound right.
usually big hollywood blockbusters like this totally go in the government's direction.
i saw SWAT recently, and it seemed Rumsfeld was the one who wrote the scenario...
oh wait, Chris Nolan directed batman, that explains it.

What movies have you been watching from America? 99.9% of movies I have seen have a very Lefty stance to them. SWAT was the only Rightish leaning movie I have ever seen come out of Hollywood.
While the overt stereotypes were grating in SWAT, its anti-political correctness bent was a breath of fresh air to me.

It was the plot and locale of the movie, a corrupt city. I seriously doubt it warrants political discussion about it. At least no more than x-men being anti-racist.

if you dont think its worth discussing then dont discuss it. It does seem to me that recently movies have been bashing the bush administration. Star Wars 3 for example.

I don't know, I think X-men being anti-racist (or at least non-exclusivist) is a valid topic. But as for Batman, it's a bit less clear-cut; the point of the plot was that Batman was trying to protect and save a city too corrupt to help itself. I did appreciate the line though about the League of Shadows destroying a culture at the "height of its decadence." One could easily draw a parallel between "Gotham" and the US in general, especially considering the frequent comparisons between the current state of the US government and the Athenian League.

Yeah..I was going to mention this. Star Wars 3 was blatant. I wonder if alot of people saw the connection or if they just totally missed it.

George Lucas just basically snuck in little things here and there in the dialog that were obviously social commentary on the current state of our government. I'm afraid i can't think of any specifics cuz i only saw it once, but it seemed pretty blatant to me. I think most of it came from Padme and Obi Wan.

I wasn't sure who I was rooting for, Batman or the League of Shadows. It was very tempting to me to see that shit-hole of a city erased. If the 'good citizens' really wanted change, they would have accepted their sacrifice for the greater good, right?
Oh yea, I liked the movie. It has a good psychological twist.
Seeing a huge group of people hallucinating batman as some flying devil was awesome too.
