    #4316471 - 06/20/05 09:21 AM (18 years, 9 months ago)

Can the cactus tea that is made using mjshroomer's tek able to be stored in or out of the fridge for one or two days, in some sort of other beverage( fruit juice, water, whatever)? i would like to partake in the woods, but there is no kitchen close by so i would have to prepare the cacti a few days in advance

I assume to kill any eventual bacteria or mold in there. 1 or 2 days should be fine if left in the fridge though.

Wouldn't it become less potent? I think heat destroys mescaline, especially over a campfire.

You generally boil it for 4+ hours. Natives would do it for up to 24 hours, according to MJ. It would seem it's not as sensitive as some of our other favorite chemicals. Phenetyhlamines are more stable, from what I've read.

It's hard to imagine anything growing in cactus tea. I know there are many microorganisms that grow in extreme conditions but that cactus tea must really be extreme.

I actually freeze my tea if I have to store it then reheat it. Perhaps you could freeze it and let it defrost over a few days if you don't have a fridge, then reheat it.

I'm not too worried about mold or bacteria anyway. it will be in a sealed container in the fridge anyway, and then in a cooler in the car.
