grain to grain problems
    #4318405 - 06/20/05 09:40 PM (11 years, 11 months ago)

I have a couple rye bags that were injected with some spores. For some unknown reason only one bag decided to colonize. THat was the last of my spores. Can i spawn the bag that colonized to the a big batch of all the rye i have. Its four bags total but only one colonized.

Are they contaminated? I wonder why they didn't germinate?
Yeah, I think you could do that, with the right conditions. Ultra sterility, glove box, ya no.
With those grain bags open, no contaminants can enter, or your done.

Be sterile....if you arent, you'll fail.

Start here:
http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23426

Search the forum for glove boxes and flow hoods...masically a clean (fresh, new) trash bag, or a rubbermaid container with 2 armholes cut in the side. You need to reduce all airflow where your working...break up the fully colonized bag, and put some colonized grains into each of the fresh bags..you only need 1-10% colonized grains per bag. If your not sterile though, you will lose them all, which is why its important for you to read as much as you can on the subject before attempting it. You probably wont need to use the whole bag too, you can use probably half to case, or spawn to poo, and the other half for g2g transfers.
