One night, there was a terrible rainstorm, causing the river to rise to a dangerous level. The local sheriff sent his men around to all the farmhouses in the area to advice residents to evacuate.
When they got to Farmer Joe's house, the old farmer thanked them for the warning but waved them of, saying, "God will save me!"
Finally, the river broke its banks and the whole area flooded. As water rushed into Farmer Joe's house, Farmer Joe climbed the stairs to the second story. Just then, a man in a boat came by and offered to save him. Farmer Joe waved him away, saying, "God will save me!" When the water reached the second floor, Farmer Joe was forced to climb out a window and up to the roof of his house. Just as the water was nearing the peak of the roof, a helicopter appeared overhead and dropped a rope. A man with a megaphone shouted for Farmer Joe to grab the rope and pull himself to safety.. But Farmer Joe waved him away, shouting back, "God will save me!"
Well, Farmer Joe drowned.
He re-turned to Heaven, where he confronted himself as God face to face with him. "All my life, my faith in You has never wavered. Why didn't You save me?!"
He then replied, "I sent you the police, a boat, and a helicopter. What more did you want?" ...
