You mean the genuine original swing bands or the lame swing revival bands?

if you like swing check out Django Reinhardt. his gypsy jazz swing guitar playing is like none you have heard before. he is fucking awesome

and he only had the use of two of his left hand fingers, yet his solos and phrasing are so articulate it would amaze me even if he had use of all his fingers.

Count Basie Big Band and Buddy Rich Big Band are two really big bands. Most people are obsessive Duke Ellington's virtuoso-style playing and his good band leadership, but I don't like his band as much as the songs he wrote. One of my all time favorites that he wrote is "Take the A-Train". I'm heavly into Dixieland Jazz Band and the early foundations of jazz that still incorporate ragtime music. Check out some Louie Armstrong's early stuff.

NYU is supposed to have great big band and has recorded most of their stuff on the internet. They take anything from George Gerschwin pieces to dave Brubeck Quartet pieces and arrange for the whole band. There many other great bands across the country that apart of college programs.

One of my favorite swing tunes is led by guitarist Charlie Christian entitled "Sing to Bop". It was actually a jam with a bunch of other famous jazz musicians that one of the audience members recorded.
