Holy Flood Batman! A State of Emergency
    #4315546 - 06/20/05 01:03 AM (11 years, 7 months ago)

CNN Story

Calgary and most of Alberta is under state of emergency for the last few days, for many this is the 2nd time in 2 weeks that major floods have hit us. Calgary is about 1 million in population and this flood certainly has a serious impact.

Well our region is having some of the worst flooding in the last 200 years. We've had some bad ones in the last 10 years, something I remember fondly was a brutal flood in Calgary from a cyclone storm that was stuck above our city for a good 8-10hrs pouring down terrential downpours that I have never seen the like.

These are images from that storm about 6yrs ago:

And now the latest, mind you the above one was a 'flash flood,' this one was a steady developing flood due to weeks of steady rain with some very heavy rain.

If I find more I'll post it.

Just thought I'd share

woah, thats pretty intense...

Men look at themselves and they see flawed humans, we look at women and we see perfect
Women look at themselves and they seem utterly human, when looking at men they see proud

Anyone else notice that the City Bus in the first picture is pushing through the water.

"I celebrate the Earth, my home, my mother, my grave, and as long as men are Man they must, if they would preserve the integrated being, do the same---[and preserve]--this rank casual hungry smelly sweaty lusting transitory body, my oozy pulpy liquid-bag-swollen body, bones, blood, hair glands, my bejeweled sex; I love and celebrate it all.  never to let men forget that they are animals as much as gods---that is one thing I shall say."
