great balls of verm!

i have just bought some building grade vermiculite.
until now, i had been using horticultural grade verm, which grains were smaller and more regular in size.
building grade verm is composed of big and very big chunks instead.
i have read that verm that comes in bigger chunks is more suitable for casings, anyone is using it? and how big are actually these chunks?
i also wonder if i can use it for PF cakes if i use a blender.
in the pic, see on top the verm as i have bought it, on the bottom the same after some seconds in the blender.

I prefer pea gravel to sand size mixed verm. It gives anything you use it in - a less compacted form.

I would not. Save some of the chunky stuff for use another time.
