Pretty happy & dry cakes?(with pics)
    #431256 - 10/20/01 08:03 AM (22 years, 5 months ago)

So here are pics of my new growth. Pretty excited. Does anybody have any comments about the blue/yellow of the cakes? Does this look normal to you? I do pick them up a fair bit to check the bottoms, which is maybe the cause of the bruising, but they seem a bit dry. Humidity is a constant 95% +, Just moved a few of them off the tin foil and onto the perlite per suggestions. I just shot another 10cc of spring water in each cake, has inner reservoir. I've had 4 cakes in there for 2 weeks. One of the cakes (top right) put out the first shroom 10 days in, picked it, than nothing since? Another hasn't pinned at all, and the other 2 are what you see now. Just looking for comments and suggestions.

Thanks.

Well, the image doesn't want to show up for some reason, so hopefully you can use your imaginations!

How much are you fanning the cakes? Sometimes this can be the cause of low pinning. If you arent able to fan them three times a day, you may have reduced pins depending on how much CO2 is building up in your terrarium. You can identify CO2 by its characteristic "sour" taste. If you've ever used a CO2 fire extinguisher you probably know the smell.

Not sure what the deal is with this image thing. Typed your suggestion Numba9 with no luck. However, the dry cakes I mentioned are still dry. Just birthed a few more that I decided to keep in the incubation chamber longer than the first four and they look much healthier. Definitely agreeing with the "wait till you see pinning" method. Nice and moist cakes, with little ones popping out. I'm fanning a good bit and have an air pump bubbing in H202 as well. So I should be getting good clean air exchange. Maybe I birthed those others too soon? Not getting much production after "1st flush". Any thoughts?

that's not the correct URL for an image, like everyone said. looks like you copied only part of the URL

Your filename can not have any spaces in it.... Check that...

If the file name is shroom 1.jpg, change it to shroom1.jpg before you upload it.

Ok, figured out the pic problem thanks to Thor...no spaces in orginial image file name allowed. Here's a little flush on a couple and notice the blueish color in the cakes...that's what I'm wondering about. I sort of think I may have birthed them to early, b/c the others that I've birthed look much healthier.

This one is current. The top two on the left are the ones I waited to birth. The one producing is the only one I left in until I saw pinning. That seems the way to go. You can probably notice the dryness of the others compared to those two. Any thoughts?
