Do you think Bush grieves for the dead in Iraq?
    #4310614 - 06/18/05 12:48 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

I have never seen one ounce of emotion or heartache from the President in regards to fallen U.S. soldiers. Maybe he hides it or maybe he doesn't feel any sadness in regards to it.

What is your opinion?

Well bush has god on his side. What he does on earth doesn't matter because all his sins will be forgivin anyways.

he's far removed from the realities of everyday life - I doubt he cries much. I also doubt he is troubled by Iraqi casualities - rank and file GIs and civilians are just nameless pawns to the distant and powerful.

This is a good question. Though any opinion I have is probably more of a guess.

I think on some level, it bothers him. I think that way in the back of his mind, he knows that all these kids died violent deaths so that he could have his war... But I also think - actually, I'm sure - that he's so doped up on religion, he's able to justify whatever he does as being in the service of his God.

He was in Rochester last month for one of his stacked look-at-me-I'm-a-man-of-the-people town hall things. And every news channel made sure to report that the president had met with families who had lost sons in Iraq. At first I thought, 'hey, that's nice.' Then I thought 'hey, how did the media find out about it?'

Good question.

I also wonder if Muslim leaders grieve for the deaths of there fallen young....

I think they both do.

I'd say he doesn't give a shit. Like Gijith said, he's doped on religion, but also on money and power.

I'd expect the terrorists would greive more with their dead than Bush. At least they have passion.

i heard the guy that introduced Bush into Christianity hardcore, was this lunatic that carried a cross on his back through 12 european countries. Im sure bush feels remorse on one level or another, that is if he is truly a human being like the rest of us. All are capable of compassion; we all have eyes to view the suffering of others.

I am tempted to flame an idiot like you, but I do not want to deal with a 24 hour ban.

I am not ignorant of anybody or anything. I am aware of the innocent Iraqi deaths that have occurred. I was not asking if Bush grieves for them, I was asking if he grieves for U.S. troops.

Don't take this to mean that I don't care about innocent Iraqi deaths. I care and think about those people too.

Come on, if we're not even sure if Bush grieves US soldiers' deaths, there is no doubt about whether or not he grieves Iraqis' deaths..

Didn't he stamp his signature on letters to the families?

I'm sure he alleviates such regret with the constant reminder [fallacious or not] that he is saving more potential lives in the future for such prices of war.

I think he does. I think he knows the weight of his actions and his responsibility as president. Sending troops into combat is not an easy thing. Bush has said that it has been one of the most difficult things he has to live with, and he father said the same about Panama and the first Gulf War. To presume that Bush would not care about his countrymen that are dying serving his policies robs him of humanity and is not realistic. There are seldom few people who truly think like that (Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot) and I do not see any significant similarities between them and G.W.
