On.... fanning

I was just wondering what the effects of not fanning a terrarium for a day or so would have on the mushrooms. I'm probably going to be going away for a night and there going to have to go without fanning, I'm sure the same situation will arise more than once and I just wanted my worries cleared up. Is this really bad on them or will they be ok?
any help is appreciated.  :grin: :mushroom2:

They should be fine for a night. Just give them a good fanning before you leave.

How many times should you fan it? or for how long? 1 min, 2 min? also, should the area where they are kept in be sterlized again before you open the top and fan ?

also, what should i use to fan them, is a magazine alright or will that contaminate the mushrooms? should i use something that has been sterlized as well such as maybe a metal platter that has been whiped down with alchohol or something?

You can use the lid to your chamber to fan. I liked to fan as much as I could and would recommend at least 4 a day. You should be able to fan out your chamber in a minute or two. You don't have to worry to much about the sterility, colonized cakes are preety contam resisted.
