Store bought compost?
    #4307308 - 06/17/05 01:12 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

I live near a place (i dont know if i can say the name) which grows there own gormet mushrooms in humongous green houses and has a store room packed with all sorts of shrooms of the non-magic persuasion. However, they also sell big bags of shroom growing compost for amateur growers. Would this be suitable for cubes or just for garden variety shrooms?
Ill check the rules and see if i can say what place it is for neone else interested.

yes, you can say what place it is... and people arent going to be able to answer you because we have NO IDEA what is in that compost. There are thousands of varieties of fungi that can grow on thousands of different things... you need to be more specific with detail as to the contents of this compost.

I don't know what exactly is in it, however that is irrelevant to my question. I was simply wondering whether or not cubes need different nutrients than shrooms commonly grown for food (ports, whites, ect.)

Agaricus var(S) are usually grown on straw and manure based compost. witch would be fine for cubes.
as long as it isn't spent compost.
