recent hunt

Today was a pretty good mushroom day. First of all, I think I have what might be a ganoderma lucidum, which I have been looking for.

A pronounced stalk was present though it is not visible in the photo.
And then I found a second mushroom on the 2002 list of banned mushrooms.
The first one I found was g. liquiritiae, last year.

And today I found what can't be anything else other than agrocybe farinacea, which should be on the list too. I kept finding agrocybes like these

and these

last year, but as you can see from the new one below, the stalk is much more robust.

I have also been finding these orange polypores everywhere, and have been unable to id them.

I sometimes find mushrooms in the crotches of trees (or in the crotches of tree roots in this case) and instead I find these dolls--weird.

Finally, I found pleurotus ernygil, hypsizgus marmoreus, flammulina velutipes (grown with and without light) and grifola frondosa all in one place.

BTW, shroomydan, your photo of flammulina velutipes made me think the cultivated versions don't differ all that much in appear from those grown in the wild.

Cool finds and nice photos. I am in no way certain, but the orange polypore could perhaps be some kind of Pycnoporus.

Cool!

Can you clone some of those on agar?

the ones that interest me the most are the Gymnopilus liquiritiae

they sure do look like the same G. liquiritiae described and pictured in my monograph for the genus Gymnopilus.

they are recorded to have grown here in florida but i do not believe i have ever found them yet.

and i don't remember anyone at this forum ever posting pics of this mushroom, until you at least.

did you take a spore print of them?

did they bruise the color blue anywhere on them?

and what kind of wood is that they are growing on?

In the above, I said I have found only 2 on the ban list. I have just been trawling through my uploaded photos, and was suprised to find these:

p condolleana
which makes me 3 times over member of a despised and underground group.
After spying them, they reminded me of the only mushroom that I have yet found in a bamboo forest, which I figure can be nothing other than p. condolleana.

While psilocybin has been isolated in them, they can't be active as older guides suggest frying them in butter.

And Greatone, sorry I did not see your reply until this second. No bruising. Thank GOD they turned a cinnamon color after drying which told me that I didn't have g. marginata or g. fasciculata.
I have a light spore print (they don't drop heavy spore prints) that I will post tomorrow. They were growing on well-rotted logs in a conifer forest.
