normaly if there's a hole you can see it, it may just be that the substrate in the bag is a little more dry than in the other 2.

if there is a small hole it will most likely take in air from the outside of the
bag any time you move it, contact the vendor and seek a replacement as that one
will probably contam

Squeeze the bag, and immerse it in water. If there is a hole, there will be bubbles coming out. If there is a whole, do as stated above.

if it's above the filter then you're asking for problems, wetting the filter will wick in bacterial contams

the filter will let air in, right? It came air tight, but I was playing with it then every thing got really loos. Did it just let air go through the bag?

Maybe you had a closed filter and opened it or something. Or maybe the grain just dried out like said above. Just let it go, and see if you get contams.

would you please be so kind as to tell me what "closed filter and opened it," means? I am thinking you mean I pulled it off or some thing. Am I right? as for drying out, would the grain still look pretty wet? It looks ok just air is in the bag and I thought that the bags had no air? not sure that why I ask. Sorry If bother any one.  :frown:

it's actualy designed to allow gasses to escape more than allow air in, it does
so at a very slow rate, you'll notice the bags inflate over a period of time
it sounds to me like you've simply broken up the substrate a little which is
fine, especialy if you have some colonization going on, it helps the mycelium to
spread faster.

duct tape provides nutes, it's cloth based with a plastic backing, any plastic tape would be a better choice, packing tape or electrical tape are fine but the chances are the bag is already lost

well I did play with it, and I did crumble it up but the bag is new. so since I have never seen these bags in action I dont know if it came bad, I maid it bad, or it is good that is the way is should be after crumbling it up.?

it doesnt take long for the bags to start inflating, you may be ok as it is, just
stick it in a dark place (insert crude joke here) and let it rest for a few weeks
with the others, in that time you should know if it's going to contaminate on you
or not, green mold seems to be the most common followed by cobweb and baccilus,
you'll know when they strike because they'll look nothing like the healthy bags

you may still be fine, just be patient and dont worry yet, the handling most
likely had something to do with it, I've sent a few bags that started inflating
before I boxxed them up and others that took weeks.
