Materials Question
    #4304832 - 06/16/05 07:48 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

Ok so today I went to do some reconnaisance on the things I would need to buy and heres what I found:
the only thing I could not find at all was jars with rubber seals....unbelievable, but would canning jars work if they dont have shoulders?
Another question:
Im having trouble finding an appropriate pressure cooker and I was wondering if
a) rice cookers for this at all? (stupid question im sure)
b) this is a good selection otherwise? (even though i think the best it will do for me is steam)

Canning jars with no shoulders are what you need..

A) I'm pretty sure a rice cooker isnt gonna work for you,
B)That thing def isnt gonna work for you. Just go to wal-mart if you can, they def got a suitable pressure cooker for you.

Canning jars without shoulders are only needed if you plan on fruiting cakes. If you are doing WBS or Rye, save the money and get the standard jars. You'll be scooping it out anyways. I believe it's a $3.00 savings.

Not to be rude but I am pretty sure you just didnt see the presuure cookers because they DO carry Mirro brand pressure cookers which are pretty cheap. Go back and ask someone, they have them! :stoned:
