identification please help!

i found this at a cow pasture near my house is it safe to eat this? does anyone know what it is?


i found these near my house outside of raliegh north carolina today june 16. it seems a little dry though.

Its okay to eat dry-ed mushrooms although yours is to dry to really examine what it is.

Its all good though.

Just next time, take some pics, then break the stem off and place the gill side of the cap down on white paper for 5 hours or more and that will give you a spore print. (color of the spores)
then some of these shroomery experts will help you out :-)

Also majic shrooms will bruise blue

its more or less unidentifiable to me, and unless your 100% sure of what it is dont eat it (what i learned from these shroomery guys)

anyhow its unactive anyhow im sure. toss it or wait for more advice really.

cap color, stem color, gill color, spore print, shape of cap, texture of cap, veil, bruising...did i miss anything guys?

smoking shrooms only works with the skin of amanita muscaria, and not with any psilocybin mushrooms. A flame is too hot and would kill any psilocybin before it entered your system.

That mushroom looks like an agrocybe, or possibly even the deadly galerina. Avoid mushrooms with rusty colored spores.

Where are you from? You should pick up a field guide, you sound desperately in need of one.

Also please read this forums sticky labled *** PLEASE READ ***, it will show you how to give us proper ID information next time.

p.s. your mushroom is too dry to make an ID, inactive, and might be poisonous, please discard it.

Be careful what you say. The first time i read that i thought you were saying its ok to eat that mushroom.  :crazy:  :frown:

But yeah, thats too dry to do a proper ID without lab equipment.
