northeast shrooms do exist
    #4304502 - 06/16/05 06:19 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

i recently met a shroomer and he says there are a few actives here he says horse dung will create a spore aswell as cow dung in the mid summer however as far as logs go birch logs will create a spore when decomposing but they can make u very sick some people have reactions to them some dont. maple and apple logs are very good blue foot growers. remember i got this info from a farmer and a shroomer he hunts only ateables ones you can cook with and eat. so basicly dont touch birch if your alleargic to it

Well, neither horse dung or birch logs create spores. Mushroom spores are microscopic reproductive units of mushrooms, mushroom seeds if you will although they are much simpler in structure, and only mushrooms produce mushroom spores.

Have a look at this site for a nice introduction to fungal biology.

And have a look here to see what species of psychoactive mushrooms (if any) can be found growing wild in your area.

you know what i mean the logs or whatever could grow a blue foot type out of it somehow the spores come in there i dont know in The mid summer on its own however the best way would be to cut a hole in the middle of the log get a spore and a syringe and inject it in to the hole then seal it off with some bees wax then throw in behind a shed or put it near a tree bingo no shit smell not much mess. im not sure if you could create an indoor grow room with a log setup but maybe oh and dont use candle wax to seal the hole off

well if spores only come from mushrooms... and mushrooms only grow from spores.. than what came first - the mushroom or the spore?

I suspect you will have much difficulty finding P. caerulipes on a log, and find poor results with cultivation of said species on a log. This mushroom naturally grows on woody debris buried in sandy loam along creek beds. It is cultivated on wood chips using standard wood loving teks.

If you want to grow on a log, your best bet would be one of the active Gyms(taste horrible) or Pluteus(exceedingly rare). Also you will need to fill your plugs with living mycelium, not just spores. I imagine a liquid culture inoculation of a log may work, but the way it is usually done is with colonized pellets of wood (dows).

If you are looking for actives in the northeast, your best bet would be looking for pan. subbs. Even those are not really common and can be hard to find unless you know exactly when and where to look.. try researching them.
On another note if you are into edibles, there are lots of good things up here to find.

i should really lock this thread just because your typing/postings make no sense.
but it has already proved to be rather entertaining,
so we'll let it ride and see what else you can come up with.

Two different but somewhat similar forms came first..which in turn gave birth to a new type of life called a mushroom which in turn gave you the spore.
