Poll: Living Will
    #4304476 - 06/16/05 06:15 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

I came close to death from a serious illness 10 years ago. When I got home, the first thing I did was prepare a living will and speak to my family about my wishes.
Do you have a Living Will?
You may choose only one
Yes
No

I lost my living will. Or, is it, I lost my will to live?

Just curious as to what the point of this poll is and how it relates to S&P?

Maybe you just want to encourage folks to have this?

It's obliquely related to the Terri Schiavo issue and I was curious if that case has really prompted many people to prepare a living will.

Doesn't look like many people are concerned about falling seriously ill.

Well I try not to worry about disease or death much, that's why I do have a living will.

It seems to be a very conscious and wise decision to make if one prefers to not potentially end up experiencing a state where you cannot move or express yourself, or interact with the world in any way, or even perhaps not be able to really think, but still experience some tormented emotion and physical pain....

I'm definitely going to remember to start putting more initiation into doing something like this. Anyone who has seen the musikk video to Metallica's One might know why. :frown:

One was an awesome video.

I don't have a living will, but my close family and friends know what to do in the event of coma, death, or other.

I've always made it clear what my wishes were in such a situation. It should never be something you ignore. However I don't formally have it in writing. Maybe that's the extra step that just makes the decision extremely unpleasant to deal with.
