Turned Her Over and Gave Her A Bang

So, I got seven cakes that are about 100% colonised at the moment. I've had them out of the dark and in indirect sunlight for the last few days. Yesterday I decided to flip em over because they have not really progressed in the last week, hoping to help drain C02 out. Today I had a thought. I took one of the jars and, while it was upside-down, banged it on a table so that the cake slipped down inside the jar. The idea behind this is to give the mycelium room to grow as it was squashed right up against the glass in places and hadn't quite managed to turn these areas bright white (more a mix of white and the bronze of the vermiculite). Now, it's not been long enough to see the results yet but I was wondering whether you guys think this is a good idea to do, and if it is I'll do the same with the other six. My thinking is that it gives the mycelium a chance to fluff up while still being enclosed in the protective glassware. As for their future - I'm gonna cold shock them for ten or so hours on Monday morning ready to birth them later that day.

PCs dont need to be cold shocked. I believe what you did is fine in your situation but with early (less that 50%) cakes I wouldnt recommend it because they suck in outside air.

I didn't think it'd be a problem contam. wise, but I didn't know if there would be any other problems associated with this method. I'm still gonna cold-shock 'em though as, if it's not going to cause them any harm, I'd like to do as much as possible to ensure results. It kinda helps me along too, because I'm going stir crazy, and having another phase to pass the buggers through will help ease my mind that I'm doing the best I can.
