Newbie from Georgia Here ... I have a couple of questions
    #4302869 - 06/16/05 10:38 AM (11 years, 5 months ago)

Hey people.  I guess I'll make this a two part topic.

First off, an introduction to myself.  I currently live in Gwinnett Co., GA, and I got into shrooming years ago when I went to Georgia Southern in Statesboro, which is famous for the surrounding cow fields and available Psilocybe cubensis.  I would say I became quite an expert in the cube over the two years I was there ... 96 thru 98.  Well, I moved to Atlanta in 98, and I've made several trips back to Statesboro over the years to scavenge my old fields. But, I have a career now, so it has became harder to find time to go back.  Plus, the older, wiser me decided trespasing on farmers land probably isn;t the smartest thing for me to do at this stage of my life.  So, this brings me to the second topic ...

I found this forum yesterday when I heard about the Weilii.  Now I'm interested in finding out a little about harvesting these.  I've read a little ... like how they are found in Bermuda and Fescue ... preferably in recently disturbed soil.  But, I read about people talking about the "textbook" locations, and that is where I need help.  Are the Weilii's like the cubes, and they prefer moist, shaddy areas? What temperatures do they preffer? (50 to 80 degrees?) How long into the summer will they be growing before it is too hot, and is there any point in me looking now, or should I wait till September?

Anyway, thanks for any help, and sorry about the long post.

BE

The weilii are out there now but few and far between. I think alot of us are finding out that spring/summer is not a good time to hunt weilii. A total of 3 mushrooms have been found this season. When fall comes your in the perfect area to find thousands so Id just save yourself the headaches and wasted time and wait till then.

Do you know where some fields are at, or are you being guided?  Just asking because there are about 3 very good fields I can direct you to ... the best of which have ponds and/or marsh areas that produce shrooms all the time (temp permitting), rain or shine. I'll look for you on AIM.
