Are you close-minded or open-minded?

Do you find yourself stereotyping other people and other groups? Do you find yourself blindly transposing your personal biases and belief systems upon every circumstance and argument that you are exposed to?
I'll be honest. My answer to both of those questions is "Yes". I am close-minded at times.

I am so open-minded that I can stereotype a group of people and be right on target.

I like to consider myself to be open minded, but I know that I do have personal bias towards certain ways of thinking. (Mostly towards those that are close minded oddly enough)

I think I'm still pretty open minded.
One thing that I'm becoming increasingly 'close minded' about is gender. Reading about evolutionary biology has always been a pet habit of mine. In the past 6 months, I've finally been able to polish off a number of books. One of the key ones for me was The Mating Mind by Geoffrey Miller (I don't want to go off on a tangent, but if you have any interest in evolutionary psychology, read this book! His theory might be the most innovative scientific thought in the last 20 years). Also, Chimpanzee Cultures by Richard Wrangham. Learning about all this has convinced me that humans are much more primitive than we like to think. Especially when it comes to gender specific behavior. Everyone I know, including my poor girlfriend, just views it as me becoming a total sexist chauvinist.

It's impossible not to be biased somehow. It just seems like human nature. I always react poorly to people stereotyping me, so I've become stereotypical of those people too. GOGOGADGET HYPOCRACY! Concepts like gay marriage are a serious issue to me, and I have a general idea of what people are like when they are against gay marriage and such.
