Alright I'm trying to grow for the first time but I can't find Vermiculite anywhere so I bought some Perlite. Does it mateer or not? Do I really need to use Vermiculite? Thankx for any info you can give me.

You can subsitute other stuff, but vermiculite works the best. Try shopping at Lowes Hardware.

careful when assuming 'always'. ive been to walmart many a time, theres one in oswego here and also ine in baldwinsville and neither have verm. ive really been to every store in my area that i can think of and there is no vermiculite to be found... the only stuff i have left is a ziplock baggie of it that i got from a kid i met at a party last weekend who happened to be growing shrooms too; his only source is that he seals ziplock bags of it 1 at a time from BOCES. not sure exactly from where but thats about our only source around here. it sucks balls too.

Goto Home Depot, they don't have any of the little bags. But they do have the 4 cu. ft. bags. I picked up one, and I am set for a while it looks like.

Try your local hardware store or a k-mart, walmart, or just any garden center. Yes you deffently need vermiculite. Thats the problem with newbies they think they can just substitute anything.Perlite is nothing like vermiculite. Just look harder.
