soak 'em in water
should be fine to rollup in a few minutes
then chew chew chew (most important)
it is good to swallow - stronger effect if you do

oral effect is less than smoking (1/20th as strong)

when i did a quid i soaked the leaves in water for about ten minutes, five would probably be fine tho, rolled them up and held them under my tounge chewing every couple minutes, never swallowing because it tasted very bitter, i spit it out after about 25 min. then proceeded to hit a water bong packed full of sally about 2 or 3 times, it was a wonderful experience and i hope to try it again sometime.

on a similar topic, i ingested a few grams of 20x extract and nothing happened. i found out later that salvia isnt active orally. what gives? it obviously is orally active if people are chewing it to get high.

Everytime I've heard of someone making a quid it's been with leaves rather than extract. I'm not sure how, but maybe that might have something to do with it

Salvia is apparently not active orally (where the word orally means swallowed) for some reason. I'm not a biologist or pharmacologist, but it may have something to do with lack of absorbance in the GIT (I speculate wildly here).

When it is chewed and not swallowed the active alkaloids can be absorbed through the lining of the mouth (again, I think this is the case. Someone will correct my misinformation.) and thus that is why it is active. Although they are both taken "orally" the definition of orally in drug terms usually means the swallowing of a substance.

Hmmm, it's bitter.

The experience itself is quite interesting. I found an amazing recall of childhood memories occured. No obvious visuals and it was possible to snap out of the dreamlike state easily. Best with little or no light.

You can swallow it, it will most certainly affect you, but you have to chew it up first, since salvinorin is a waxy crystalline substance, you have to really break it down before you swallow it.
