 Why are my LCs growing so slowly?

I followed agar's little baby bottle tek with the reverse nipple, but my myc is taking FOREVER to colonize and fill the bottle. Do I need to inject sterile air with a syringe or something?

If you can see a cloud of Myc in it, it is good to go.
Seldom - if ever will myc colonize all the solution.

Is that about all the colonization I can expect? Just shake up and use broken up myc in my syringe?

To increase the amount of mycelium in a LC, I add 5-10ml (per 200ml culture) of supernatant bean liquid. That is: Alcohol wipe a can opener (The kind that makes triangle holes not the 'round about kind) and a can of beans. Then make a hole and suck 5-10ml of the liquid out of the can. The preservatives get diluted and growth increases tremendously IME.

i used karo. jars were knocked up like 3-4 weeks ago.

how much water did you use?
how many cc's of a spore syringe did you use?
what temp are you incubating these at?
what color is the Moon? <---lol

karo = less than 3% of the mixture as commanded by agar
water = see above
spores = 3 cc's each bottle
temps = 84-88F

I'd try more like 5% of karo...but thats just me...I get more growth then you, but still not perfect...

I use Tall half pint jars for LC's.
4cc's of light Karo.
96cc's of water.
1 marble.
just double up the recipe for larger jars.
Sterilize for 30 minutes and let it cool.
I inject 1 to 2cc's of spores.
the results...
I use this kind of lid now...self sealing injection port...with a round bandaid over one hole for a filter disc.
I think part of the problem is there is no air exchange...with the baby bottle tek.
