My bugs hatched! YAY!

I planted a bunch of new plants this spring in my backyard. Flowers, grasses, shrubs and vines. I had nothing but a lawn and 2 trees before. With all the new planting I knew I would attract a lot of insect pests. So to control any pest problems I may encounter I decided to hatch some praying mantis.
I bought 2 praying mantis egg cases and strategically placed them in my yard. Each egg case will hatch about 200 mantis' and as long as there is abundant food source they will prefer stay in the area (at least as many as the area can support). But the problem is that it is almost impossible to tell when the cocoons have hatched and the newly hatched mantis' are so small they are nearly invisible. So each day I have been out examining the cocoons for signs of life and searching for baby mantis'.
Finally, while pulling some weeds yesterday I came across my first baby mantis. It was pure luck that I happened to spot it. It was a perfectly formed praying mantis about the size of this slash "/" on my computer screen. I was so happy! And its none too soon! I have already had a lot of insects moving in and I can't wait to watch those mantis' grow up and become the terrors of my yard! Soon my planters will be crawling with these guys...

Nature is fun.

Mantis' are awesome! I got to watch the female eat the male once when we had them in the back of science class.

Like how? Am I gonna get mugged while having a barbecue in my backyard? Or are they just gonna heckle me and say mean things about my mother? Do I need to keep my gun loaded and close by at all times?
Oh dear Lord! What have I done!! Does anyone know a good supplier for DDT?

my dad had some in a terrerium when I was younger...some praying mantis eggs and when they hatched it looks like hundreds and hundreds of mosquitoes all over the place at first...but they are so trippy looking that small..I think they are the most coolest insects ever!!..sweet...
