Police shut down a house they say is literally filled with marijuana.
Police shut down a "drug distribution center" they said was operating in McAllen, TX.
It took officers all morning to empty the house of dozens of bundles of marijuana. The stash was loaded onto eight pickup trucks.
Neighbor Gerardo Reyes said he had no idea what was going on there.
"Astonishing...I can't believe this," Reyes said, "I don't have words to describe this."
Police said they received a top that some suspicious activity was going on at the house.
"This is without question one of the largest (drug busts)," said McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez.
The bust yielded one man, police said, and 6,000 pounds of marijuana. Police described the house as a mid-point for drug traffickers. The drugs would come in from Mexico and would sit there before heading to other cities.
"I am extremely surprised, this is not a very large neighborhood or home. It's a small home. Yet it was half full of dope," Gerardo said.
Neighbors said it is a relief to see the operation shut down. Police said more arrests were possible.
