I went down to this place today (it is west of Denver). A lot of famous bands have played here.

That's one of my favorite all time venues!
I saw Radiohead and Stephen Malkmus there.
My girlfriend saw the Pixies with the Violent Femmes there last Sunday.
Her brother's seen Phish there a lot. Phish shows recorded there are  .

my friend was at that show. I gave him money to buy me some LSD and he didn't buy me anything, he came back and gave my money back. I was like "wtf dood??!?!?!?!"

haha! I see my friend in that first pic. That was an amazing run Phycotron  , memories that will last me for years. I think it was the third night when the entire amphitheatre became one giant cloud. One of the wettest concerts I've been to but also one of the most magical.

Widespread Panic has sold Red Rocks Ampitheater out more times than any other band (including Phish and the Dead) with a total of 15 sold out shows.

friday.. i was there.. trippin in the cold ass rain... the one show i got into that whole tour.. i went to sacramento then the gathering... no miracles, no lsd, but still fun as hell... did you buy any grilled cheese that tour? cause mine were best

Every time someone brings up Red Rocks I think of the wrong spot at first. You see, around here Red Rock refers to Red Rock Canyon National Coservation Area. I can be there from my house in about 15 minutes and I go there all the time.
The Red Rocks venue does look like a sweet spot for a show. I don't know why they don't pick a spot around here and put in something similar. We got places all over here that would make awesome sites. Valley of Fire is pretty fucking nice (about an hour out of Vegas).
I don't know, maybey its just too damn hot in the desert. You'd only want to do shows from October to April. I can just imagine all the drunk fuckers dropping like flies at a show in the desert in July!  Hell, I remember the Dead shows in the early 90's (outdoor venue) being so hot that they were hosing down the crowd with fire hoses to cool us off. That was in June I think.
